Nerd Nite Ann Arbor is part of the global Nerd Nite family – events are held worldwide in cities all over – because learning is fun, and learning while hanging out with friends is even better!
NNA2 has been going on in various iterations since around 2012, and is now organized by the Ann Arbor District Library. Because libraries are fun, and libraries organizing events in their communities are even better!
The events usually feature 3 speakers, each giving an informal yet informative talk between 15-20 minutes on a topic on which they are either expert or (at least) over-informed. It’s entertainment and enlightenment! And it takes place in a bar!
NNA2 partners with RELATE, a science communication and public engagement program at U-M, and has hosted events at LIVE and York.
So come on out to see someone make a trumpet, explore romance novel tropes, find out how sugar affects your brain, explain why the hell we haven’t cured cancer yet, or discover the untold history of race riots or online trolling. As we always say: be there, and be square!
